How to Remove Bad Odors From Your Car Before Adding Fragrance
Layering a fragrance over a bad smell rarely works. For the best result, remove the source first and then add a scent you enjoy.
Find the source
Check under the seats, inside door pockets, the trunk and the floor mats. Spilled drinks, old food and damp spots are common causes.
Clean and deodorize
- Vacuum seats, carpets and mats thoroughly.
- Wipe hard surfaces with a cleaner that suits the material.
- Sprinkle baking soda on fabric, leave it for a while and vacuum it up.
- Dry anything damp completely to prevent musty smells.
Do not forget the air system
A dirty cabin air filter can bring unpleasant smells through the vents. Check your vehicle manual and replace the filter at the recommended interval.
Finish with fragrance
Once the cabin is clean and dry, add your car perfume. It will smell truer and last more comfortably.
